Guys,
I wanna put a new stereo system in my car, however, I have the changer on the side of my car... where I can change the music, and change the volume... if I put a different deck in my car, will I still be able to use the changer beside the wheel or no?

The answer is no.
I have the same problem. You can get an some thing like this:
http://www.pac-audio.com/products/swi.htm
i don't know the cost or if anyone on here has done it.
You could get a system with a touch screen then you don't need the remote. i don't miss mine.

I can score you the PAC SWI-X unit for about $60...although, I've never installed one, I've heard they work great and are also universal for most new vehicles and almost all decks except for SONY's and a few others.

And, if this gets install... I will be able to use my changer beside my steering wheel? You do know what I'm talking about when I say changer on the side, right? See, I find it very convient for me... I really like it. But I don't want a new stereo system, if I can install it, if I cannot use the side changer.

If I get this... will I be able to use the changer on the side of my steering wheel? You know what I'm talking about (the changer) Paul, cause you have an '05... and I was looking at a Kenwood stereo system. I'll buy it, if it'll do the trick!

That is what it made to do.I don't think anyone on here has one. My car has it too but my new system has a touch screen so I don't need the steering wheel control.

Kenwood is a great name I love my kenwood equipment... But I will never buy a kenwood deck. There garbage.
The sub pre-out's dont have enough power so bass allways sound's almost Weaker then it should even though it hit's the notes. And if you try to force it will distort... Might be my 2 kenwood deck's I tried but I wouldnt ever get another.

Knowing now what I've learnt over the years... man I feel old... I'd go Pioneer Premier for the headunit, Alpine for the amps, and JBL for the subs. Actually the subs I'm torn between JBL and Pioneer Premier. Alpine for the front stage as well (doors) - their component systems are pretty killer. Type S is good, Type X is better (IIRC).

Kenwood.... BLEH! (it says something when a company is inching towards bankruptcy)
Pioneer is alright.... but there are better decks for the money. Especially if you dont want anything flashy..
What's your price range...
I'm setting up a system for my buddy now... he wants to spend less than 3000
going with
03 RSX
H/U - Alpine CDA-9855
Front Speakers - Focal Access 165a Components
Focal 6.5" Coaxials Rear
Amp Highs - Alpine MRV- F345
Amp Bass - Alpine MRD-M1005
Subs ... he's either going with a Single 12" Alpine type X
or 2x 13" Focal Polyglass subs.
...
I have allready done a system in a focus wagon
Roughly 2000$
H/U- Alpine CDA 9815
Front Speakes - Alpine Type S 5x7
Rear Speakers Clarion 5x7
Clarion 4ch amp 50x4
Clarion 1000w amp on bass (1000peak) rumored to be 700rms
2x Clarion 12" DVC subs.
It all depends on what youre looking for/ How much you want to spend.
I've done countless other systems in different cars. But there are examples of what you can do on the cheap. while still doing the job right.

Im a big fan of JVC HU
had a sony-sucked
had a panasonic-meh
had 3 JVC's, the last one i had went crap after 3 years, but for all i know it might be a bad connection, im too lazy to find out.
this is the one im considering if i decide to replace it. I like it becuase its all black and would look good clean in the dash. Plus it uses SD memory slots and CD/MP3 for music.
JVC Arsenal
But regardless Ashley, if you would like to use your changer controls, get the switch bunny is talking about, its worth it for $60. Otherwards, you cant use em.
I wish my grass was Emo, so it would cut itself...

I didn't like my kenwood deck. to many problems it not reading cds, skipping, and this was an mp3 deck. I like the alpine better. I think it sounds cleaner, faster reading, and better operation so far.

Yeh the unit is reasonable but, shops charge good money because its not a common unit that alot of people have and it takes time to program the unit and mount the infra-red sensor.

Dunno about their car decks, but I have a Kenwood receiver that lost its IR sensor for the remote 2 years and one month after I bought it (Warranty was two years natch  ) $180 to fix it
