Should i keep my 2000 zx3 with 195k and some tranny problems.

i was planing on keeping it getting it painted, get some coil overs, tint, mild motor mods.

but i could never get out what i would be putting in it (as with any modded car) i bought the car for $3500 two years ago with 132k now the car has almost 200k and is all most worthless. but it dosnt cost me anything to drive. i would like to buy a new car possibly this fall if i dont fix up my focus. but whats every body's thoughts on this...

new cars possibly

1. WRX :D
2. SRT-4 (Gasp)
3. mazda speed protege
4. mazda3

I can only hope we gat that Focus, that will be a huge seller for Ford.
As for modding your car its up to you, do you really want to start modding acar with 200km on it?

for the price off all those mods you could almost get a SVT Focus from the states.

PS not having a car payment is a great thing as well, guess you got some thinking to do.

I'll second the SVT idea. It's a hell of a "baseline" car and they're getting down there in price with not a lot of mileage.

Ya stay the route and fix it up. When you have a lease and payments coming off your pay, you think you'll be fine but it gets to you afer a while. A new car looks nice but its always about the price. I wish I had got a used one.

If its stock then just drive it, If its already modded sell some parts off of it and bring it back to stock. I would suggest throw it up on kijiji or criagslist for $1500 if you can get it great if not then run it into the ground with only investing in oil changes and maybe tires. Then when the car is capoots sell it for $500 as a parts car and then pick up whatever you want.

Being a person of a frugal nature........if it was me, I would either look at getting the transmission fixed, or find one from a wreckers and get it put in. Then, save for "Sparky's" car. Seeing as OAC_Sparky works for the FoMoCo, is he letting the cat out of the bag with some inside information?

If you do decide to get the transmission fixed, don't go to AAMCO. I had to get some work done on the transmission in my olde Escort, it was leaking somewhere. The AAMCO I went to told me it would cost $1000.00 to find the leak and fix it. Went to a neighbourhood transmission shop, it cost me $100.00

Not anything secret. Just that I've seen the EuroFocus in person. Nice car.

And they are weather testing the RS here. FoMoCo isn't run by the same people at the corporate level than they were when Jac ran the company and the company vision has changed.

So when the RS gets here, the line forms behind me. My '05 is paid off and seeing then I'll be due for a new car (the wife will get my ST), it's been greenlit. She's all for it, it gets her out of her Taurus she's driving.

So then you can tell me how much the new Focus sucks. I might not hear you from that far behind me.

so if I had a base v6 stang convertible and a focus RS -- which one would be the winter car, and which would be the summer car?

like which one would be the big spoon, and which would be the little spoon?

This is a steal, boys and girls. I've been out for a rip with Kev in this car. It's tight and a flawless install. This is how you properly mod a Focus.

I'm forcibly restraining myself from buying it only because I have a "master plan" and a small bit of willpower. If that willpower were to disappear, Kev would be short one car. :D

EDIT - so the new RS IS coming after all. Hmm. Might need to tweak the "master plan".

IIRC the car companies do winter testing here on a lot of models that are not sold here ... I'm not saying we're not getting the RS ... but the fact that it's winter testing here is no guarantee that we are.

Does the RS even have a semi auto option in Europe?

I'm sure the RS will only suck in more air  :D The 08-09 visually sucks in my opinion. Compared to my 00, the 08-09 is still a better car. Not what I was hoping for, but better than mine. If Ford brings us the Euro in all, or most of it's configurations, I'll be pleased. Heck, even if they give us a Battery Powered Focus....
