Which Focus Models Exactly Have The Zetec?
#1
Well, I had a ZX3 and really, didn't care about the Sedan's...but...just wondering if this is correct.

Sedans with Zetec:

-SE Sport models
-ZTS

Wagon's with Zetec:

-ZTW models

Is that all? And is this for all years? If not, which years had this motor?

I always prefered a ZX3 but I might look into one of the above as I decide what car to buy. I just want to make sure I look at a Zetec when I surf autotrader.

Still way too many choices.

Thanks,
Jay

i think the zetec was optional on the SE and the wagon.

i'll dig through the VIN info at work and see if I can come up with anything more specific

The SE was optional for sure.. the wagon, i thought it came with the Zetec, but not sure..

There was a thread about this a while ago:
http://www.focuscanada.net/forum/index.p...topic=7883

Using the information from the msn autos website:
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/default....s&src=URES#used

I dont know if it makes a difference that it would be American, it's possible the Canadian cars had some different options.

nope .. the reason i didn't mention it is caus all zx3 and zx5 have the zetec..

and no in quebec, they are not called ZX3, they are mentioned as LX3 (even though there is no badge to actually prove it) but they STILL come with the zetec. They have 14inch wheels with hubcaps, they don't have a tachometer and they don't have any options (basicly an LX) but these are the only difference.it still comes with the zetec, at least from what ive heard from the quebec board..

and we dont have exclusivly those.. we do have normal zx3s like the rest of you.. like mine
ZX3T gone..

whats the difference from a zetec and duratec??????iam a newbie no clue.... :ph34r:

Duratec is the 2.0/2.3 litre engine isn't it? Compared to the zetec's 2.0

Different types too:

Duratec 20 = 2.0 litre i-4 engine: zx3,4,5 and zxw 136 hp/138 ft/lbs

Duratec 20E - 2.0 litre engine: Availible to green states only (emission baloney) Better known as the PZEV: Partial zero emissions vehicle.

Duratec 23 = 2.3 litre i-4 engine: zx4 ST 151 hp /154ft lbs

the best way is to check the 8th position of the VIN

P = 2.0L 8v
3 = 2.0L 16v
Z = 2.3L

here are the possible values for the 8th position of the VIN for each model year from 2000 to 2004. this info was compiled for US market vehicles, but the 8th position still stands for engine choice in canada and the P, 3, Z in the 8th position all mean the same thing in canada.. the only thing I'm not 100% sure is whether or not the 2.3L was even offered in canada

MY 2000
LX - P
SE sedan and wagon - 3, P
ZX3, ZTS - 3

MY 2001
LX - P
SE sedan - 3,P
SE wagon, ZX3, ZTS - 3

MY 2002
LX - P
SE sedan and wagon - 3,P
ZX3, ZX5, ZTS, ZTW - 3

MY 2003
LX - P,Z
SE sedan and wagon - P, 3, Z
ZTS, ZX3, ZX5 - 3, Z

MY 2004
LX - P,Z
SE - 3,Z
ZTS, ZTW - Z
ZX3, ZX5 - Z, 3

EDIT: i changed 'PZEV' to 2.3L because that's how it appeared in my resource, also the P and the 3 were both shown as just 2.0L but i think its pretty obvious that the P is the spi
