Hi all....just got a 2000 silver ZTS 2 weeks ago......loving it :D
Have gotten the windows tinted and that forced me to decide it would look real nice with larger wheels....lower profile tires.....any sugestions?
My main concern would be rub and turning radius.

Thanks for any help

Most guys seem comfortable with 215/40R17s and a 7" wheel. I've heard of a 215/35R18 being mounted, but that's getting up there.

I was aiming for a 205/45R17 myself this summer, but I'm on the stock 14s for now.

Good luck!

I have 215/17/40. Went back to stock after driving on it for 4 years. Drive was getting harsh and after I made the change to the stockers it was so comfortable I never bought another set of tires for the 17 wheels.

I may try a set of 45's and better sidewall protection next summer.

Hey man welcome to the board! 18's all the way! Just remember 18X7 with at least a 42mm offset with a 215 35/18 tire. My ZTW has 16X7 with a 205 50/16 tire OEM (24.2) diameter, the 18 would have a (23.9) diameter. I would consider a 17X7 with a 215 40/17 (23.9) diameter but I'd still go for an 18! :)

A little dress-up to start with....you see the ztec is very new to me and I figure I have some time to play and get to know what it can do. After that....I suspect the usual...exhaust...intake...throttle body....pully.
I am just now learning what is a) available B) what the car is capable of. As time goes of course, there is a very good chance this list will expand ;)

As for dress-up....tint is done...new wheels...new dash trim (existing is wood grain) am very much likeing the carbon fibre. New AC controls....new guage face....if I can find the black face with the blue shine thru.
I think thats about all I had in mind for now. It's the sedan so not figuring on putting anything drastic on it.

When you say "harsh"....what do you mean exactly. Excuse my ignorance.

When you go check around for rims, make sure they have a 4x108 bolt pattern with a 42mm offset (ideal) although 42mm to 49mm is fine. Basically anything outside of those limits and more then likely you'll have rubbing issues.

Do you plan on dropping? Either route I wouldnt go any smaller then 45 series rubber unless you want some 35 series like me (hard ass ride).. Some nice 17's 4x108 and 45 series and it should look dam good.

Be sure to get locking lugs to...

No, not dropping it. But I'm thinking I agree with you....17's are probably my limit. Now I just have to settle on the look....I've seen some awesome looking brushed charcoal.....look great in the window...not sure how they would look against bright silver body.
Oh the pressure

Harsh= breaking two rims so far in Toronto Streets
Harsh= Feeling every bump in the city ( toronto)
Harsh= wished i had a set of 16's rather then 17 for city driving.

All these meanings refer to Toronto driving. Specially St.clair and Bathurst.

Ok gotcha....I thought you meant the extra weight or centrifugal force was wreaking havoc on your bearings or something. Hmmm....speaking of which...anything I should know about that??

I think I'm going with a satin-finish silver myself... would probably look good with the Sangria Red finish on the car :)

Just so I don't make another thread (and more clutter), what 17" wheels specifically do you guys think would work with the Sangria Red and sedan shape.

Thanks!
