I'm finally happy with the way my 2000 shifts.
With much hesitation, I put the horrendously expensive synthetic Ford oil in about a year ago. While it shifted OK with the liquid gold, when the transmission got up to temperature shifting remained notchy and unpredictable (particularly going into 3rd). It wasn't much better than the cocktail I had been using.
A week ago I decided to add a half a tube of MolySlip to the oil and, man, what a difference. Smooth all the time. Finally.
I make no promises about how it might work in other transmissions, but it sure transformed mine. You can buy the stuff at CrappyTire for about $10 a tube, if I recall correctly. You want the stuff for manual transmissions, not engines. Use half a tube or so and drive it immediately to mix it in before it settles.
