Building a Boosted Duratec
Just make sure you change your address to make that happen also on your license etc or it won't work. I wouldn't be scared about emissions either. Talk to Chris about when he just got his test done on his 01

Wow I haven't posted anything since last month...
Well here is an ear full.

I installed and painted the Starter and the Passenger Side Axle Bearing Bracket, as you see in pictures below.

Then I installed the oil dipstick. I, like others, are tired of the shortage of room on the Cosworth Intake Manifold for the dipstick. So I decided to just simply bend it straight and rig up a little bracket to the Cossy Mount Brace to hold the dipstick in place. It will sit perfectly between the Cossy and the Rad Support. Not much room to spare but this way I don't have to cut the handle in half...

I then put on the oil filter and sealed it all up and filled it with Amsoil Break In Oil. The 2.3L with the BSD, it is almost 5 liters of fluid now.

I gave the engine a couple spins by hand to get the oil all mixed and tried to push some fluid up to the head if it did, I will never know... I then let the engine sit on a dry spot on the floor to see if anything would leak. I came back to it in an hour and the dam Main Seal was dripping......Dodgy Ripped the clutch and flywheel off. Unbolted the main seal bolts and slide that off gently. Then I wiped off the surface very well and laid down and nice bead of Black Silicone all around were that dam seal goes. Tongue . Bolted everything back up and spun it again. It was near the end of the day so I left it on a another dry spot on the floor. The next day I found another spot. I lost my marbles at that point. Thought this thing is going to leak all the time. Literally sitting on the floor next to it holding my head I saw it was just the dam Turbo Drain line that was leaking. Tightened that up and it has been perfect ever since.
I then installed the CFM Throttle Body and it wouldn't open all the way. I couldn't figure it out. I sanded the hell out of the Cossy mouth and it still kept hitting something. I just took the butterfly off and found a s**t ton of Carbon build up that when the TB was bolted. The housing would bend and not allow it to open. It should be cleaned regularly for others but now it works and the mouth of the Cossy is now smooth too lol.

Now on to the Transmission from hell....
I have had this MTX75 over at another members work for roughly a month before they could take a look at it. But I am never in a rush due to I have very little time to work on the car. Anyway, they opened it up and found that everything in the MTX needs to be replacedSad. Get a call from Ken. BTW THANK YOU Ken!!!! He was talking to Joe at JD Motorsports, who has my tranny and tells me my list of parts is pushing some pretty pennies around. I said lets just go with it. I replaced everything else in it, why not this too.
We had another talk, I think via email, and he just confirmed with his after market contacts that they don't use china made parts. So the price dropped a lot Big Grin. Then I got another kick in the teeth. There are 3 types of MTX75. 18mm, 20mm, 20mm with black cover over the 5th gear. Mine is the 20mm. and the selector forks need to be changed out with the synchros too. The price went back up.
All I can say is that the Car is going to be and feel like a brand new 2005 Focus all over again. So it's worth it. Some of you will call me nuts and say why didn't you just buy a new ST. I love this car and the memories in it could never get me to stop.
So I'm just waiting on parts right now.

But in the meanwhile I had my intercooler piping upgraded to 304 Stainless Steel 2.5". I am so happy how it turned out. You don't really see much of it when it is on the car but I myself will know that it is there and there to last the life of the car twice over. I got an amazing deal on it too. The fabricator did me a favor, half because he loves doing it and half because we kind of worked together too. He told me it has roughly 40-50 man hours involved in it being TIG welded.
Take a look. There are a few minor details that need to be dealt with but that will be done when the engine is in the car.

No he just doesn't weld and make things. He actually builds race ready Honda's in his spare time. He has told me that while tuning, if it develops surging that he will have to make some modifications to the piping. SO we are aware of what could be bad and good here. The good side is I'm more then doubling the flow rate of the air to the engine. I can't see the turbo working harder but I can see that were I would want to make 20PSI before. Now I would only need to bring it up to 15-18PSI due to the increase flow rate to make the same power with smaller piping. This will be fun.

In the meantime I have updated the from LED flashing lights on the truck. They are more sleek and they still get people out of my way lol
[Image: IMG_20140619_152049_zps4ed3ff7b.jpg]

Just a couple of days ago I and the owner of the Red Civic Bubble in the shop were told to remove our s**t or a removal company would. But this is not how the owner feels. It is how the controller who sits on her big fat ass all day thinking of stupid ways to make things run more efficient and in return she just costs the company so much money, thinks... Anyway I went and rented a Storage/Workshop Unit next to my Fathers Storage Unit. It will work perfectly and allow me to work in the day light. Those that don't know. I've been doing all of this in the dark. There is no light in the back of the shop were I had everything. Nice and out of the way but now it's in the way...
SO here it is, what do you think????

Perfect amount of space and when I went to sign up, it was on a discounted price too. I couldn't say no to the shop. The regular storage unit was just $10 less per month.

That's it for now. Hopefully next weekend I can borrow GFXjamie's trailer and move the car over to the new location. Then return it and hang out with Wobb and Amy which are up from the States next weekend.

So a good number of busy days have passed by.
I rented a Uhaul dolly for $60 and moved the trailer this past Saturday. My parents wanted to help and that they did with the pushing of the car on and off the dolly. I also felt like Hercules when I picked the front of the car clean off the ground by 3 feet when I needed to adjust it on the dolly lmao... Tongue

This is as we left the tire shop
[Image: 20140705_101719_zps97971b50.jpeg]

And this is when I pulled up to my new working location
[Image: 20140705_102848_zps2a750f00.jpeg]
I have never pulled anything with the truck before. But it felt like I had nothing behind me. As I gave it a shot of gas and the rear tires on the focus started to rub creating a smoke show behind me lol It was good.

I also dropped the motor off at the unit the previous day and it made it in one piece.

Testing out my couplers
[Image: IMG_20140701_214808_zps90342ab5.jpg]

I found shorter bolts for my EGR delete plate. Nice and clean now.

What can I say, it's an attention whore.

Here is a look at the upgraded intercooler piping. Also it all fits perfectly around the engine. Just waiting to see how it fits around the engine with it bolted to the car lol
[Image: IMG_20140708_190507_zps98469fdd.jpg]

Needs to be rolled still.

So the other night I decided to start cleaning up the engine bar and taking the rust proof of that I had sprayed before storage. Then I sanded it down and sprayed her black as night 3 times.

I still haven't decided if I am going to cut the brackets off for the coolant and power steering but I may just leave them for now.

I tore off that stupid carpet on the back wall and I figured it would be all rush and full of body holes. BUT, it's spotless so I will just paint her black as well.

I plan to remove the EVAP system and cut and hid the Fuel line going to the fuel rail. The coolant lines at the bottom will be SS braided hose and the A/C lines at the top will be cut and removed FOREVER!!!
BECAUSE RACECAR

Now to the MTX, again...
It now requires a 3rd gear sprocket. So Ken stepped up and ordered that for me as they had 1 left in stock whereever in deep space he finds these items lol. JD says maybe Monday I could have it or that's when he could have it put together. I'm in no rush but I don't want this to go too long into the summer. I'd like to drive the car before snow hits the ground.

That's it for now. Any comments from any of you?

How do you plan on tightening the an hose onto the coolant lines without fittings? Hose clamps wont make a tight seal.
Reply
I hear what you are saying. That is why I am going to use good quality worm gear clamps. They have proven to make a tight seal on my air compressor at 165PSI. I think it should be ok. But trust me leaks will be the first thing I'm checking for.

Today I finished painting up the engine bay.
I used some clear Metalflake over the gloss black I sprayed and it looks awesome.

I then started on the interior after the rain stopped pouring down. I took out the Auto shifter and installed the Manual shifter.
The manual cables just have a rubber grommet and the auto has a hard plastic blocker bolted to the body with a metal cable brace too. So it was such a PITA to brake free and slide the new setup though the small opening.

Here is how the new shifter and the new "Dildo" look sitting in the car. It really does feel nice and I don't hit the stereo when I shift.

I had a couple of hours to work on the car today after Jamie picked up his Amsoil Racing Oil from me.

I took the Auto Pedals out of the car and put them side to side next to the new Manual Pedals. A big difference in looks and quality!

The install on them wasn't so bad. I had only 1 issue with the Clutch engaugment switch. But after talking with Brandon and Joey I can either remove it from the system with a tune (or it won't even matter as it is a Auto going to a Manual) and or I could just connect the 2 wires to the switch and have it in a solid loop circuit. Either way, it's not a big deal.

I resprayed the drivers side strut mount as it wasn't up to par with me. Now is looks 100 times better!!!!

So I also attacked the Brake Reservoir and lines for both clutch and brakes. I painted the tank. Then I cut the lines and using my 4an stainless braided lines and mini t-bolt clamps I did a really nice job on those lines. I was afraid the break line would come off the Booster so I hopped in the car and pumped. But nothing bursted off and I mad sure that it is on there for life...

Continuing with my addiction of paint I hit the Power Steering Bottle after cleaning it. It isn't in the right place currently but it looks perfect.
