Hay guys,
Well I like my new car but I'm so sick of the chrome on the mirrors. Today I tried taking the chrome part off but I couldn't get it apart, I plan on getting them painted but I'm having no luck getting the stupid chrome cap off. Does anyone know or have any ideas on this? I like the chrome door handles and I can even deal with the side "zits" but not the mirrors. Also does anyone work at a Ford dealership or can someone get me a price on the factory 08 spoiler? It was only available with a package that cost $1500.

with a nice dark tint your chrome mirrors will look nices.

Problem is the the new Focus has the Tire Pressuring Monitoring System in it.
How do you get past that? (IE: Can you buy the sensors and put them in your own wheels or are you stuck? :huh:)

yup, you can buy the sensors for your wheels. If it's like my stang, it's about $100/wheel (which sux)..
All cars should be coming with them now.

Ive heard horror stories about people braking them when transfering them from rim to rim. I think I'll wait on new rims until next year anyways. This year its going to be tint, intake, exhaust, and the factory spoiler if I can find one. Any one wok at a Ford dealership who can get me the spoiler???

Which is why I'm debating what I'm gonna do at this point if my car is toasted (No word after a week makes me think they're trying to source a big @$$ed tube of glue to put the thing back together again <_<)
Part of me says that if I do go Focus again, go with an '08 as it won't have as many " attachments" as an 05-07 would :( and bling the sucker again to the nines, with the Sport package & Sync...
But this would leave me with the CDR9's which have been powdercoated now & ready for pick up, can the sensors be added to powdercoated rims? :huh:
Other option is get a used '07 Fusion AWD, which frighteningly enough used is less than I paid for the Focus used back in April 05 (Didn't even make it to the three year mark with the car damnit :angry: )

Hay Daniel I shot you a PM about the 08 Focus. The sport package is just painted door handles and mirrors and the spoiler, and some ugly rims. kinda a waste of $1500.

yes, you can get the sensors put on any wheel. If it's the band type like I have, you buy the sensors and bands separately... and just get the bands that fit your wheel size.

But seriously, other than the fuel gauge and leather seat issues, the Focus was good to me, it's just that an 05-07 would remind me too much of dad and an 00-04 is too old to be used as a daily driver (and will have increased maintenance costs) so it's either '08 Focus or a Fusion AWD...

'00-'04 is too old? my '02 wrx is my daily and track toy. at 83k miles there are no issues
i previously used a 15yr old '91 integra with 140k miles as my daily and autoX toy. it was still running at 160k miles (albeit with a worn #3 piston ring)
if an '00 focus is too old to use a daily.. doesn't that mean you may want to consider another make/model....

Sorry, but that is the ultimate in being a lazy driver. All this electronic stuff that is being added for "convenience/safety" is getting to be ridiculous. Is it really that hard to walk around your vehicle once in a while to see how your tires look. The only ones that I think are worthwhile having would be the oil change reminder and maybe the low windshield washer fluid warning since the oil change is crucial and the washer fluid tank is usually mounted now where you cannot see it.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently...
An 00-04, no matter how anally maintained by the previous owner is simply going to need more maintenance because of its age (I was a stickler for following the Ford recommended service intervals by time and an '04 by now is starting to get into some seriously expensive maintenance things (Like the timing belt fer instance) not to mention the time the car will be out of service I can't simply pick up another car and drive owing to my need for the special controls (Why I will never go back to GM/Chrysler, when I owned those makes the cars would break in expensive and lengthy downtime manners)
If I'm going to be laying out my own cash again here I don't want to lay out cash now and then again for maintenance shortly afterwards if all I'm doing is following Ford's schedule.

For some people yes it is apparently...
But I have to intercede here and suggest that you've narrowed the field down too much. There are certain things that automakers include now that *are* worthwhile outside of those you mention. I'm thinking here things like the steering wheel mounted controls, which allow a driver to retain their focus (pardon the pun) on the road.
Not to mention things like ABS/TCS, which are simply better at doing their job than all but the absolute best drivers in the world...

I'll chime in for stability control - the DCS in my RX-8 can apparently claw down through ice and snow and keep my baby on the road when I wasn't sure that it was possible to do so.
ABS we all know is a good thing - it's an accident avoidance tool, not a "shorter stopping distance" tool. TCS (part of my DCS, actually) is a bit more of a nanny than I expected, but I imagine it's saving me some tire wear :P
My DCS, though... I'm genuinely impressed with it.
