Dyno Day At Lightspeed Innovations
#1
Great day at Red Deer with some of the SVTOA people! I took a few pictures after I found the place (the map posted on the SVTOA website had the wrong address but I found it OK).
The meet was at Lightspeed Innovations in Red Deer-Cam proved to be a very knowledgeable guy and was a big help in getting us dynoed and informed as well.
Pics....
Group shot

In attendance, an SVT Contour, a Mazda Miata, 4 Mustangs, an SVT Focus, my ZTS Focus and a Honda CR-X
I can't remember all the numbers, but the Contour put down 179, the turbo'd CR-X 175 (and a lot of black smoke!), the Mazda put down 199, the SVT was 236 and mine was 208/186 (all at the wheels, obviously).
Strapping them down (in order of running)...

Both Focus runs were done in third gear as I pulled first, went out in second on the first run and spun all the way to redline!
The strap shifted on the SVT Focus' run and hit the exhaust header and melted the strap.
Cam was a little concerned with the dyno sheets he printed off for us, as the hp and torque curves alway meet at 5250rpm, but they didn't. (Note-Mustang Dyno for what it's worth).
Here's mine he provided...
You can see they cross at ab. 4900. But, the hp and torque are plotted on two separate x-axis.
You see the torque range is from 139 to 186, whereas the hp is from 55 to 208. By plotting the torque curve on the hp axis (right hand vertical column) you get this...
(created with some questionable MS Paint skills!)

We pulled mine to 6600-looks like it keeps climbing past that mark! Wonder where the top of the hp is? I am pretty sure PW has a 6750 rev limiter flashed on the PCM but to be safe we only pulled to 6600-dynos break things!!!!
All in all, a great day! A big thanks to Cam and the other guys I met for the pizza, and all the work strapping and unstrapping the cars.
And on the way home, played NASCAR draft with this guy...

Pretty hard to photo while driving at, ah, slightly over the posted limit!

I think it was around 239-still awaiting the SVTOA site to come back on and I will know for sure.

Hmm, that sounds awfully low for a 4.6 3V... Usually they average 260-270 rwhp and 270-285 ft lbs...

Still, cool pics...

This is a Mustang dyno-from what I hear it is low compared to other dynos. I have read the correction factor is 1.13 so 239x1.13=270, right where you were expecting. So, with this in mind my 208x1.13=235. Nice!

If by stock. you mean the Crane cams, the header and the MBRP exhaust on top of the PW then yes, I am stock!!!
I think there is more there, if I can safely pull to the rev limiter. As you can see from the hp curve, it shows no signs of leveling off. Wonder what it would take to be able to pull to 7K?

Wow. I've always heard that Mustang Dynos were pessimistic, but just... wow.

Axle-backs are more sound and fury than power, but at least an intake and retune should put that car near 290-300WHP. Of course, those are likely Dynojet numbers... so 250-260 on a Mustang dyno?

Here's a link to my dyno pull on video. The first pull I quickly spun the tires so we did a third gear pull. Thanks to Tomas for the video work!
