Ottawa Fog

Heard about the "little" fender bender on the 417 yesterday. Did FC.net escape unscathed?

I got through about 5 minutes before it all happened.

Basically, it can be attributed to the following:

- SUV on its roof on the east side of the highway
- looky-loos stopped to help WITH NO FAWKING LIGHTS ON
- ambulance stopped to help WITH NO FAWKING LIGHTS ON
- people tailgating in the fog at 100+ km/h, most WITH NO FAWKING LIGHTS ON

They keep talking about a transport jack-knifing, but that would have been in response to the rollover, and him trying to get around the idiots stopped on the side.

People were just driving stupidly, too close, too fast. It was slightly slippery due to the FDI (fog depositing ice), but nothing smart driving couldn't overcome.

It was actually worse about 5 minutes south (Roger Stevens Drive). You couldn't see the overpass over the 416 until you were about 50 yards away.

Flo lives there. He is perpetually stuck in a fog. Nuff said.

I had to drive my new son home in that crap, 60km/hr all the way home, but made it home safe and sound.

AWD + meaty snow tires FTW.
