Ever Have A Distinct Oh s*** Moment
#1
My best one yet (since getting the exhaust):

I had to go make a service call to our manufacturing complex up on Hwy 11 N, going towards New Liskeard. It's about 5-6 minute drive at highway speeds. I decide that since it's late in the afternoon and I wasn't going to be back to our main office till after 4:30, I'll just take our car and not the company car.

So I cruise along the one main road our office is on, and then I'm waiting for the light to get on the highway. At this point, I'm completely oblivious to the OPP CRUISERS with their FLASHING BEACONS and the HUGE oversized load they're escorting... all to my right, waiting to go up the hill as well.

I turn left, start going and figure... what the hell, give 'er! WOT gear change into 2nd, and then I look back and feel the blood draining out of my face! I figured I was toast. I got off the gas, saw the first cruiser come through the light... and nothing. He crawled along as the lumbering semi struggled to get some speed before attacking the 7% grade.

I wholly expected to have him radio me in. Nothing.

What happens as I'm leaving said complex to head home an hour later? After crawling through icy muck that I didn't think in a million years that the Focus would make it through... I pull out to the mouth of the driveway, wait for oncoming traffic to clear, and as I rev the engine quickly to 6500 or so in a celebratory "I beat the ice lake!" fashion... an OPP van goes by... right at full roar. I could SEE the daggers he was staring at me. But nothing.

I can't find the horseshoe, nor the horse, but the plans for the stable are with the engineers as we speak.

It sounds fast! :(

Really, I expected the OPP van to 180 in front of me (well, down the highway).

Mr. Murphy was riding shotgun yesterday and trying his hardest.

I commute about 45klm 1 way to work every day and its all on back country roads. I usually drive around 110-120 kph. One day i was running late and decided to strech my little wagon a little and was going about 160-170 kph , I fugured I would be ok bc for about 6 months worth of driving I have never once seen a cop on the road. So I come over the last hill before my work and a unmarked cruiser is sitting on the side of the road just waiting. I got on the binders as hard as possible and start s***ting my pants thinking "there goes my licence". I drive by him doing 85 kph and he didnt even look up. I think he was sleeping on the job cause his head was down. What luck that day. So theres no excesive speeding for me anymore. Getting away with it once is good enough for me.

Me and Bering were 'comparing' our setups on a off ramp. I think by the time we hit the actual merging lane we were at 170km/hr and climbing.

As I merge into my lane all I see is one red strobe light in my side view mirror, OPP Biker cop. I look at my wife, "f***, popo!"

I'm now slowing right the hell down as Berin passes me and keeps going. As the cop is passing me, he's pointing at me to pull over, he then moves in right behind us....and he's still making the gesture for both of us to pull over.

I pull over, cop pulls over, Berin keeps going.

He comes up to my car, I have the wife and dog with me. Dog was chillin in the back, and I guess he must of felt my heart racing or didnt like a man coming towards the car with a helmet and bullet proof vest. Dog starts freakin out....I have my window down 2 inches and not rolling it down because I dont want this cop getting bit...wife finally gets the dog to chill out, I roll down my window...

"Nice puppy"

"Yeah Im sorry about that, I think he can feel my heart beating throught the seat right now"

"Yeah, I was going 120 on my bike and you guys were pulling away from me like crazy. Thats street racing. You know the guy that didnt pull over?"

"Yes, hes a freind of mine. We were just going for a short boot"

"Tell him next time a police officer is motioning to pull over, to do it."

"Yes officer"

"Slow down, K?. I'm just gonna give you a warning"

I wanted to jump through that window and give him a big old fawkin kiss. My hear rate dropped so fast that I got a little dizzy. I'm not kidding.

My wife looked at me

"Your so full of s***"

Frig, did I ever agree.

That was my last dealing with a police officer, and let's put it this way, I've been getting much better MPG since that day, and hitting the track to 'compare' setups

I don't complain to much about the times I have been pulled over. For the amount of driving I do compared to the number of tickets I'd say i'm doing fairly well. Although, the one I got a couple of weeks ago had "Aud" scratched out under vehicle make. I wonder what he though my crummy Ford wagon was?

Nothing to do with speed but we got my buddies lowrider out last night. Just finished putting it all back together, heavier springs in the front end, added another pump, whole bunch of stuff.

Go for a quick cruise, he decides to show off a little, at a red light he pumps the back end up, hits the switch for the full front and crack, one hit and it hopped. He's all screaming like a kid at christmas time and keeps it going. Light goes green he stops hopping, dumps the back right side and we 3 wheel around the left turn and down the main drag. We got the t tops off windows down tunes pounding, basically 2 30+ yr olds acting like we're 18, young dumb and full o' you know what. Well, I notice this sound, I think to myself, "Hmm, I've never heard a siren in this song before." no sooner than Underwood yells out "Faaawwwkkkk!!!!!" and puts it down hard causing the car to swerve a little and then rolls to a stop.

Cars are driving by, a couple honked at us laughing as they drove by.

Cop walks up to the car. Underwood hands him his license and papers. Cop looks at it, walks back to his car. Never even said a word. We're both like oh s***, this is bad.

He comes walking back a few minutes later.

"So, I'm guessing that you didn't notice me at the stop light."

"No sir."

"I was the first vehicle in line, you looked right at me."

Undy looked stumped and dumber than ever.

Cop hands him the papers etc. and says,

"Nice car. Keep it on all four. Good night gentlemen." and WALKED AWAY.

Yeah, we cruised nice and easy back to the shop and called it a night.

My biggest "Oh s**t" moment had to be while in Toronto with friends a few years ago (This is before the Focus & GPS)

I'm driving along one of the roads with streetcar tracks (King Street IIRC) I have my passengers yammering driving instructions in my ear and I'm lost to boot...

Notice I said streetcar tracks? Sure enough there's a streetcar there and the damn thing has its doors open to offload passengers! I slam on the brakes and glare at my passengers as I see the cop coming up to the car and I'm going in my head "Oh f**k, how many points is it for failing to stop behind a street car with its doors open again?"

I hand my papers to the officer figuring I'm toast and the cop goes to his cruiser and returns a few minutes later and gives me a lecture but lets me off with a warning...

Needless to say I made it a rule after that in my car... No talking at me while I'm trying to following driving directions! <_<

I had one in my old bronco II one time...I was at the gas station I used to work at and decided to show off a bit. I ripped off a huge burnout, then spun the tires all the way out onto the road and past the station (it was a little wet out, normally it work never do that...) anyway, a couple bussiness down is the beer store. I go crusing past there, and sure enough, the 5-0 sitting there pulls out and comes after me. I got about 1/2 block before he pulled me over. I give him my licence and all that, he goes to his car, me and my friend are almsot sh!tting bricks. He comes back "so russ, that wasn't your spinning tires back there was it?" "no sir" "this thing is too gutless to do it" my dumbass in the passenger seat chimes in "okay then, have a godd night guys" he gives me back my stuff. Me and my friend look at each. I resist the urge to smack him in the side of his head. Police officer drives by, probably laughing his a$$ off...

It's an 85 Monte Carlo. Candy Tangerine and hella f***in chrome. Thing gleams like a mofo in the sun.

3 pumps, 4 dumps, 8 switches, 12 batteries, strapped frame, 100 spoke 14" wires etc.

Just finished repainting and getting back together. Used to be Tangelicious now it's called Slice of Paradise.

I had a 84 Cutlass that I'd called Cutty Royale. I had just put the frame back on after strapping it and put the hydro's in done the body work etc. About to go in for paint when the shop it was stored in at my friends farm burned down about 2 weeks ago. It was going to be the candied the color of Crown Royal with the purple seats and carpets with the logo and all that but yeah, she's gone now. I'm still reeling from that. Put about 6g's into it and about a thousand hrs and yeah, up in smoke. I'll put some pics up of the Monte though at some point.

I've had plenty of Oh S**T moments that I got away with. But if I tell anyone I may not so let's just say yes to the question.

That OPP van probably had someone in the back that didn't get away :P
