Sony will display at 1080i, but it won't upsample to 1080i... so if you have a game that renders at 720p, but have a 1080i TV that doesn't accept 720p input (ie, older CRT HDTVs), then it will downsample to the game to 480p.

* That's what I wanted to say because I have a three old HDTV crt tv that will not display 720p, but can display 1080i, like Resistance: Fall of Man in (PlayStation 3) it will support only 720p B)
