Nfs Shift
#1
Well I rented NFS Shift yesterday (After Pro Street I will always rent first)
I didn’t quite know what to expect from there first attempt at a driving simulator, after a few hours of game play I must say they did a great job.

It has elements from Forza, Gran Turismo, Grid, and of course the NFS franchise.
The graphics are good but I’m surprised that there is no support for 1080p?
The difference in the racing tiers is a huge jump and this game does require some skill.

I think I will end up buying this game because it has they most super cars in one game I have ever seen.

There's very few games that run at 1080p -- GranTourismo is one of a few that do... mostly due to the framebuffer size -- it's hard to get all the special effects in at 1080p... 720 is decent enough tho.

I might have to give it a whirl... I've pretty much finished doing whatever I could do with Prologue, and need a new racing fix..

I'll give it a shot on PC first, then if good, I'll buy for xbox or PC, whichever is cheaper. However when FORZA 3 comes out, :D

And GTA4 renders in 630p on the PS3 and 720p on the xbox360.

if your TV is saying 1080p, it's likely being upsampled in the framebuffer to accomodate the TV's native resolutions.

XBOX upconverts while PS3 is true output, I don't know what to beleive, and from what I see... I like the XBOX video much better. Don't get me wrong, for movies the blu ray made my ps3 a worthwhile purchase, but for gaming... the XBOX rivals.

Anyway lol... i've been meaning to try a demo of the game, either on PC or 360, so i'll definitely have to try it out. I saw a video on XBOX showing how the sounds and movement of the actual cars were used, saw a preview with a Ford GT and it looked interesting.

I actually just played the demo last night on my PS3 and was actually impressed.
I had some fun drifting around the corners with a BMW and GTr :)
In car camera is great. I just find the sound kinda annoying though!
I've never been in an all out race car, and if they truly sound like that, I don't think I would want to! My gf quicly came over and lowered the sound system by 90%, lol! She was getting pissed in other words, lol. My 3 sons on the other hand had a big grin on their face just loving it ;)
I'm considering this game for purchase, but only if I could get it on sale or something!

ooooo... demo... downloading now.

The game looks impressive -- about as good as Forza 3 IMO... so could be a good fix until GT5 comes out.

wow... this game is pretty good as far as a racing simulator goes -- I might have to pick it up..

the interior sound is HEAD and SHOULDERs above GT5... even if the graphics don't always measure up.

I think I'm sold -- I'm going to pick this up tonight.

OK I'll stick with forza 3. Shift has too much of a feel like GRID. Very arcade feel, not much of a simulation.

It's kinda like both games tore off of GRID, NFS took the racing feel and damage. Forza took the rewind ability to the max.

Shift is a great driving experience simulator -- maybe not a real car simulator...

but man is it fun!

This is the most fun I've had with racing simulation in a long while. The cars sound like cars, the tires squeel, the gearboxes wine... it's so much more involved than the GT5 prologue experience.. I love it.

This is the first game where I actually want to drive clean and not crash since it actually is uncomfortable to crash.

I don't quite get the criticisms I'm seeing from the GT and Forza crowds... IMO, this is the closest I've been to real racing in a looooong time.

I agree with you 100% I like the feel of this game a lot more then I thought I would, I definitely feel more involved in this game then in Grid or GT5.

The sound is way better then any other race simulator I have played before and the upgrades and easy to tune.

My favorite part is being able to stick a turbo on a M3 and listen to it scream. B)

I like the sqeeky brakes on my cossie --- it sounds like my focus did with the big brake kit!

man.. I'm still having too much fun with the driving experience.
