My Junk Yard Setup
#1
A member asked me about my setup and I thought id paste my pm to him here...This is my DIY turbo kit that Jays2000zx3 and I made, well more like I paid and peiced the kit, and he made the parts that needed to be made. Kit has been holding up really good for the past 2 years...anyway, heres that pm...

This is proven 190-225Whp (205-230ish)wtrq anywhere from 9-12psi....yes, thats low for 12psi, but this turbo is very small. A nice 16G upgrade would be a good idea for me.

Quote:killer man thanks.  also if you have it how many and what degree mandrels u bought too man.  thanks.

Lates.

I bought the JGS stage 2 header, everythying was welded to the exhaust flange when I got it.

This is what I meant by 'stage 2 header'....you have to gut it out and weld the flange, so you need to measure it out...

we used a middle bracket and made 2 braces on the bottom, we used pre existing screw holes on the intercooler.

Changed the pcv valve to a boots freindly one...mustang SVO, think the year is 85 or 88....cant remember, id have to check the garage.

Test fitting for downpipe....these are old pics, Jay made me a new downpipe already. This one was pretty ghetto as we were running out of piping and it was a long week-end....

pics of the IC pipe to the intercooler. We placed the bov here, it is re-routed back into the intake on the other side.

Piping going to the TB...we used an already made cai from the tb down. We cut about 8 inches off the cai and couplered it with a
a pipe Jay made....

Internal wastegate mod...we mouted the internal wastegate of the 14B turbo directly on the block, works great.

Lots has changed since the last 2 years its been boosted. I had more tuning done, changed the BOV, the DP, got the piping powder coated, set up the elec boost control, etc....

this is the piping stuff I bought and had Jay weld them in his garage...

Yeah it did, but after getting everything powder coated, it looks amazing now.

Took us 36 hours, includes, tear down, welding new piping, and install. Jay and I worked 36 hours straight on it, right throughout the night.

Parts alone cost close to 5K. I can do it for about 25-35% cheaper now that I know where to go for parts locally. Most of this stuff was bought in the states 2 years ago, when our dollar wasnt doing the best.....

I love the Home Hardware Turbo.

Just goes to show you can get by without a true kit.
