On The Way To Work......
#1
On the way to work, the car started sounding REALLY ODD. I turned around, got it back home, lifted the hood, to find the number three spark plug, still in it's boot sitting on top of the valve cover. I have sent it out to the Doctor, to see what the heck happened, and what it'll cost to repair, either a new engine or just a repair. If it's too much, I will be looking for another Focus

How much boost are you running in that thing? LOL

Were the threads visible on the plug or were they covered in aluminum? It may be as easy as getting a spark plug thread repair kit and fixing the hole.

Wow, i was told once that never tighten the spark plugs on the duratec too tight because there isn't enough head to hold it if you crank it. I asume thats for most cars but this sitch is weird. Witch craft to be more like it. Is your house on old native reserve by any chance. :o

Call me anal but I always clock my spark plugs and use a torque wrench to tighten ... the spec on Duratec20 is 12 nm or 9 lbs-ft and I'd be surprised if the spec on Zetec was much different.

glad it's repaired...

on the subject of torque specs, I've found Ford torque specs to be rather high compared to other car companies... anyone else ever notice that?

my GF's nissan's torque specs would almost qualify as 'finger tight'.

For the wheel nuts, yes. Fords are one of the highest to be torqued compared to the others lol. except a Enzo which is like almost 700 or 900 ftq, signle bolt
