Need Help...again
#21
oh, there's one last-ditch thing that should fix it without the need to drill out the cylinder.

Take 5 gallons of gasoline, and slowly power it into the keyhole.. Don't worry, it'll all fit, and will help lubricate for the next step.

Then have a friend light the area by the keyhole with a match or lighter to gain a better view of the problem.

Evacuate to 20ft away, and enjoy the show.

Crap... sounds like the (in)famous Focus dead key cylinder issue... only temp fix is a lot of jiggling of the key and banging of the steering column and depending on how far gone the cylinder is, it may be a case of too little too late...

Yeah reading the owners manual makes me pray to god that the Focus never dies on me to the point that it needs a tow... basically the '05 model says "Flatbed Only"

well yeah to remove it you basicly destroy the broken one.. but you need to replace it anyway.. so we just drilled through. I had found instructions on the net that said exacly where to drill and thats what we did.. then you have to redo the new cylinder to match your key but its like a small puzzle.. they were charging 25$ for that at a local locksmith
of course you can't nobody has drills besides ford ;)

install a set of switches instead of having to use a key, never have this problem again.. you even said it .. the more ford parts you remove the better the car is
