K, my plan is now not to build a false floor in my hatch, but rather to strengthen my hatch plate...(you know that thing that goes up and down when you open and close your hatch)....by using plywood, and fiberglass. I'm thinking it may work....or just become a disaster all together...
well i'll give it a shot anyhow....
pics to come

I assume you're going to be using that Kicker from a previous post? You're going to be battling some serious vibration problems. The side panels the shroud attaches to are screwed directly to metal and will Vibrate along with all the wiring and parts attached to the rear 1/4 panel guts. Unless you weigh that panel down or bolt it solidly in place, the sub is going to shake the panel everytime it starts working, making the sub's output less effective and wasted.
I've seen a few Foci with smaller free air setups built into the panel and even in those cases it was mainly a show thing, with the owners mentioning that the panel had a tendency to hop.
By all means try it out, I'd love to see it pulled off but it's going to be a lot of work to get it working right. Personally I would just stick to the spare well enclosure. They are easy to build and effective. Either way good luck :)
Luke.

So i opted to build a sub enclosure. Not bad for a first timer. I went to the Kicker website, found my speaker size, and got the specs for the MIN sized box. 1.5 cubic feet needed for a 15 inch sub. Thats not that big...OR IS IT.
HOLY s***....its a monster of a box. and i think my ears are bleeding..bwhahahahaahah....love it.
the only un-enjoyable part...doing the math and trying to figure out 1.5 cubic feet of box...equals what in MDF...
PICS TO COME...
Just in case you are wondering.
you'll need: (3/4 inch MDF)
2 pieces of 18"x 18"
2 pieces of 18"x 19.5"
2 pieces of 19.5" x 19.5"
Side note: You can get all this out of a 3/4 sheet of MDF it'll run you about 22 bucks for it. DON'T BUY A FULL SHEET. you don't need it. besides you'll have plenty of extra pieces after it all.

Wow so where's the rest of your hatch?. I'm trying to get away from the big box in my back and make a side box so that I have "trunk" room again.
