I have my basslink wired with splices off the rear 6x8's (which I swapped in favour of Infinity Refference 6x8's too), and it seems to do a decent job. The only problem with the stock deck, is that there is less tuning/adjustments available than there is with aftermarket (steeper crossover slope, gain control from the HU, etc), and it's only going to get the same bass as whatever speakers you have it spliced into. Now, with that being said, with a 200w RMS Digital amp, and the two drivers in the same cabinet, it produces quite a lot of bass for something so small, without having to drive the hell out of it. It also extends very deep for such a small cabinet too. After some initial adjustments and some break-in time on the drivers, it does sound even better than when I first got it, and I've actually got the bass on the deck below flat (the unit sounds too mid-bass-y and out of place when running flat or above flat), which has made it blend that much better, and it's also less wear and tear on the HU amp, and the other small speakers too.
I bought the Basslink as a small, lightweight abd efficient means of additional bass in my car, and it's accomplished all feats with flying colours. I'm anxious now to see how it does with an aftermarket deck, which will provide a cleaner and louder input (high level) input source.
I think that one of these would sound great in a Focus too, of any variety. Just need to add some dampening to the trunk of my car to cut down on the harmonics coming through the body panels in the rear of the car now (yeah, the little basslink is actually that loud...)
