Help: Looking For A Car (not Immediate)
#81
You wont need to try hard here.

I remember posting about being stuck in london....

5 minutes later:

-Mark (Frecnh_connection) was at my GF's door with new spark plug wires, coil pack and tools.
-Mitch (crazy_kid) showed up with his SVT and then returned with a trailor to tow my car to his shop
-Tony (ZOOM) showed up to get his hands dirty & help me get the fofo running

4 hours later, I learned

-that Pro-M MAF are very sensitive to dirt and rain
-A car can start with your MAF unplugged

Mass air flow sensor, Measures the flow of air going into your engine, used to adjust air/fuel mixture

lol, sorry about that. that's a steal though... if you don't mind having a rebuilt car. if this is the right dealer i'm thinking about, he's a wicked guy, does a great job, but all his cars are insurance writeoffs. not necessarily crash and burn cars, but enough to have a 'rebuilt' title.

Oh, so that car has been in an accident. I wonder how bad then, and if all would be fine with the car afterwards.

What about something like this?

lol

ok probably needs a ton of work... and it's a rotary engine... but for $1000, the body looks alright, tiny picture though.

I had an 85 Rx7 with the rotary.

Loved that car. Ran crazy hot though, and was impossible to drive in the winter.

Mine was very reliable, never had many probelms with it other than reg maintenece. I did buy it with an engine with less than 50K on it.

Oh God, I just remebered it had a choke on it. That was cool.

Just a thought, buying a stupid cheap car that's going to fall apart in a year or something.

oh, yeah I wasn't thinking of buying that one... at all...

Question though...

If I got a Focus, should I get a hatch? wagon? sedan? I think Wagon or Hatch work best, as you have that big boxy area at the back.

Also, are there like, recall crap I should know about certain models?

Lastly, engine differences, what are they and how would they affect the modifications you guys gave on the last page.

I'd go Htach or wagon.

I really want a wagon

00-01: Make sure all recalls are done. Any dealershgip should be able to tell you this with the VIN #.

02-05: They should have recall issues owrked out by now, but some may still have some.

Go with Zetec or Duratec for engines. Stay away fom the SPI if your planning on doing mods. Pick up a duratec for best 'bang for buck'. I heard theyre netting close to 200whp with bolt ons.
