Congrats on the new car. If that is the new civic, I personally love them, but just purchased my new car, and after seeing the turbo kit that is coming out from jrp for it I'm not too sad. Especially since I am lined up to be a test car as well, tested so far at 220 whp at 3000 rpm and 245 wtq at 1700 rpm, but that is the point where the stock clutch failed  on the first test car.

Its not an Si. The Honda dealor here can only bring so many in a year and the only one they have left is there dealor/demo car they cant sell. So now my name is on the list for a 2007 Si.

How ever I dont think I even need the Si. Im very happy with the 145hp R18 (successor of the D15) motor and it does what I need to do. I got around with a 130hp Focus for 3 years no problem. Also unlike Ford you can make any Honda motor quick with less cash and less work if I ever feel the need to do so. Dan will agree with me on this one.

I always been very open minded to all types of cars and am not stuck into one brand name do to ignorance. I have no plans in modding the Civic like the Focus. I have HIDs, 18's and suspension planned and thats it.

Congrats on teh new wheels. The fact that you can personalize the thing to the point where it says "Welcome Jason" is both highly amusing and somewhat frightening

Hope you enjoy it ;)

The new honda civic is a really nice car. Civics do have great engineering, but if you're getting into modding, you're going to have to deal with an engine that's half burried underneath your windshield.

But that being said, you can't argue against the shear engineering behind the civics. The older models were genius with the sheer simplicity.. .you could slap a half dozen turbos in the engine compartment and still have room for a couple sorority girls.

Sure there were a couple of years where the civic sucked pretty badly recently, but the new redesign is extremely nice.

My two biggest things against the civic.

1 ) Men don't buy cars that say hello to them unless it's K.I.T.T
2 ) Welcome to Civic Nation, population everyone

Well at least he bought the coupe and not the sedan. Congrats to Jay on his new car, but the only thing I am envious of is the fuel economy. How much was the sticker on this bad boy, around $24k?

23g with the body kit. There going to tint the windows for me for free this week. Payments come to $350 where as the Focus I was paying $500. I think I was really ripped off from Ford when I bought the Focus.

Its drives much smoother then the Focus but I seriously think Im going to break the shifter off when I shift. The Focus had a nice hard shift witch I really liked and this thing is like butter.

I noticed a very small dent in the hood last night. Have no idea how it got there but since the car was in the show room and everyone was looking at it there is a possibility. So its going in this week and there going to fix that for me. I dont think many peopel would evere notice it but Im a perfectionist.

I went to take pic but my camera went dead right after the first picture. So I will have to get some today.

I really like the HPF body kit. I will get a pic of the front to.

It depends if you are comparing apples to apples.

Civic @ $23,000

$350/mo x 12mo x 4 years = $ 16,800 at 0% interest you had to put down $6200

$350/mo x 12mo x 5 years = $21,000 at 0% interest you had to put down $2000

-----------------------------
Your Focus

$500/mo x 12mo x 4 years = $24,000 at 0% interest PLUS $6200 = $30,200

$500/mo x 12mo x 5 years = $30,000 at 0% onterest PLUS $2000 = $32,000

Jason, I find it nearly impossible to believe that you spent over $30G for your Focus.

When you bought your Focus, you either had $0 down, or a bad credit rating and had to borrow at a very high interest rate. Or both.

I'm not trying to detract from your purchase. I just hope you are objective when you examine your "feelings" of being ripped off. The numbers don't add up.

My focus 450/month 1.9% interest 500 or 1000 down can't remember. 60months, and that's with the insurance on the loan.

Mine is $318 per month at 7.9% interest....car was $12,995, but is costing me approx $17,500 after the interest is paid off...I don't mind knowing I could finance a new car for less per month...funny thing is, where I live, a modded Focus is a lot more rare than an 06 Si. The car you chose was a fair amount of car for the money, and is in the same pricerange as an 06/07 Pontiac Pursuit GT or Cobalt SS (non-SC). Guess if it was the best choice for you at the time, then that was the best choice for YOU.

I am not a fan of Honda, or especially Toyota, but in all fairness, they offer a decent car for the money...and yours looks that way too, especially with all of the dealer incentives...

That's what I'm saying.

$450 x 60 is $27,000 plus even $1000 is $28,000 INCLUDING interest and insurance.

FV=P(1+r)^n

Mathematically if you work backwards you paid approximately $24,500 for your 2005 Focus. The rest was interest.

Which is why I find it hard to believe that we are comparing things equally.
1.9% interest is about the highest rate in the past 5 years on a Focus through Ford Credit. So, obviously, $0 was put down or you financed through the bank for a lot higher interest, if your monthly payments were $500.

To get a monthly payment of $320 on a $23000 car, whether a 4 or 5 year loan, more money had to be put down a ZERO interest loan. And EVEN MORE if the interest rate was higher.

Apples to apples.

the interest rates depended a lot on how long the term is.. I could have gotten 0/0% on a 2 yr lease, but to get all the car I wanted for a payment I could afford, I opted for the 4 yr lease, and that was at 0/3%.

I also had a totaled car left over on my loan for my old focus. So that got added onto the new loan when I bought the ZX3. The interest rate on my ZX3 was 0.3%

Note that I didnt put down any money on the Civic.

Any who more pics. There sorta crappy since I had to take them with the cell phone. HIDs soon and then Im still deciding on rims. Debating if I want 18s or 19s.

Then how long is the term for? 6 years?

$350/mo x 12mo x 5 years = $21,000

$350/mo x 12mo x 6 years = $25,200

That's with NO interest.

Sorry Jay, I'm not trying to be a dick and argue, but you can't say "Well the payment on my Civic is $350/month , but I feel like I overpaid paying $500/month to payoff 1.25 Focuses (The new and the totalled one)"

It's not the same.
