Fuel Economy
#21
^^ Proof? The best I ever did city, stock, was 500ish with a 2007 ZX5 SES and an auto. That's on 42-43L of gas (until the light comes on).

Let's assume you hit the light and filled up. In the Focus (2007 anyways), that's about 43L. So you went 658KMs on 43L of gas. That's 6.5L for every 100 KMs. No way in hell unless you're hypermiling your face off. Something tells me you weren't.

Running it till you sputter doesn't count cause you're going to foul your fuel filter quickly, as well as your injectors and the rest of the engine (valves, etc) a lot quicker. Plus, good luck reproducing that time and again without stranding yourself.

In comparison, for 90%+ highway driving, I went 828 KMs on 73L of gas on Monday, driving to Georgetown and back home again (sold my Aquaglide, and the guy that bought it paid my gas to deliver it). That's 8.8L for every 100KMs, highway and a bit of city. That's judicious cruise control and a lot of 90-100 KM/H driving.

Really thats when I just had my intake in winter and most of the roads i was on was either 60 - 80 so depends on what your term of highway is but I'm not lieing the light came on around 620ish and I only go to certant shells. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it lol
I don't know y but I always got extreme amounts of KMs out of my car in the winter, not every car has the same problems as others do, I don't know what to tell you.

That's not city then!

I believe the lockup in 4th for the Focus (the only gear you'll lock-up in if memory serves) is what, 65 KM/H? Engine RPMs @ 80 KM/H are around 2000? That's why you got the fuel economy that you did... that's the sweet spot (as unrealistic as it is) for the Focus - revs at or under 2000 for sustained cruising. Even at 90 KM/H, you're hardly hitting 2100 RPMs... still great for gas mileage.

It's a 05 auto, born in April right before they moved the engine forward an inch. So when its like a dam blizzard out and cars are stopped on the road and i still choose to go on, going very slow thats how i did it. And ya 80 is concidered highway but thats that.
